After the ceremony, we met up with our friends Kristen and Dugald and their baby, Emma, at the botanical gardens and shared a lovely afternoon together, though it was too short!
At home, the temperatures are warming up, and the garden is bursting with Spring blooms!
Note the purple iris and the yellow iris blooming on the same stalk!(above)
Siberian iris are so vibrant they seem to glow behind the pink dianthus. In order to get more use out of our deck during the hot summer months, we've added a pergola (which James put together in a matter of DAYS). There are roll-up bamboo shades on each side, and a shade sail is on order for the top. The long-term plan is to grow Boston ivy to conceal the rain barrel and climb over the top of the pergola. I'm still hunting a "Sweet Autumn"clematis for the corner furthest from the house.
Finally, or to use Leah's current favorite catch-phrase: "Last, but not least," a sleepy Elise who is about to be too long for her stroller!
